Stan creates a voice recording which he sends to the artist in a bid to get his attention. The recording is suicidal and Stan hopes to get the attention of the artist through providing a recording of his last activities (Stubbs). In the recording by Stan, he provides the artist with the events surrounding the attempt to not only end his own life, but also that of his pregnant girlfriend. Stan records himself in his car as he is speeding down on the highway headed for a bridge. In the recording, he starts off by telling the artist that he is sending him the recording with the hope that he will get to hear it and understand his anger. He tells Eminem of how he is doing 90 which is quite a high speed on the freeway but does not reveal his true intentions as of yet. After this, he goes on to scream to someone in the car. Stan screams at the other person to stop talking and from the manner he Stan expresses himself, it is evident to note that the other person is female. He goes on to introduce the person as his girlfriend. Throughout this time, there is a lot of screaming and screeching that is taking place within the recording. Stan informs Eminem that he has to get off the phone because he is almost at the b ridge. It is here that his Stans intentions are made clear with regards to the purpose of the recording. He presents his intention as being suicidal but stops to think about how he was supposed to send the recording to Eminem. Before he can contemplate on how he is to send the recording after he has driven the car into the river, the sound of tires screeching is heard then followed by a loud splash (Eminem). In the structure of the song, Stan initiates communication with Eminem and this is brought out in the first three verses. Here, Eminem is singing as Stan and most of the events present the activities surrounding the suicide by Stan. The fourth verse is delivered by Eminem and he presents information about how he attempted to initiate communication with Stan. He however realizes that he is late and the news about Stans death has already featured on the news. In one of the interviews conducted on Eminem by his radio station, there was additional information about the song that does not feature in most analyses. In the interview, Eminem stated that there was a verse in the original writing that did not feature in the song. The verse that was exempted was about the events that followed Stans survival of the suicide attempt. After the failed suicide attempt, Stan attempted to get back at Eminem and kill him. In the omitted verse Eminem ends up in hospital after defending himself but Stan does not give up. Stan goes on to attempt finishing what he had started at the hospital but ends up dead after Eminem kills him. The song was inspired by the demise of one of the closest members of the Eminems family. His uncle Ronnie is the inspirational force behind the writing and recording of the song. In 1991, Ronnie killed himself and this had a great impact on the life of Eminem as brought out in this song (Stubbs). The first verse of the song presents Stan in his bid to capture Eminems attention. He talks about how he Stan is for the third time writing to Eminem, with the hope that he will be in a position of communicating back to him. Throughout the course of the first verse, there is the sound of rain and thunder in the background. The sound of a pencil scratching on the surface of a paper as a person writes a letter is also one of the important sounds in the first verse. This depicts the unending efforts by Stan in trying to capture the attention of Eminem. His level of devotion to Eminem and his work is also brought out in the first verse. Here, Stan informs Eminem about how he has build up a whole room filled with the pictures and posters of Eminem. He also informs him about the two letters he has drafted and sent in the past. He goes on to state that Eminem might have most probably failed to receive the letters. Stans obsession of Eminem is also brought out through presenting details about his girlfriend. Stan informs Eminem about his girlfriend being pregnant and how he plans on naming the child Bonnie. The name is derived from one of Eminems songs in the Slim Shady Album. Stan goes on to express his commitment to Eminem when he passes his condolences about the dealt of one of Eminems family members (Stubbs) The second verse is the genesis of Stans frustration and this is brought out in the manner through which he expresses himself. Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide that contains an unusual peptide linkage between the amine group of cysteine (which is attached by normal peptide linkage to a glycine) and the carboxyl group of the glutamate side-chain. It is an antioxidant, preventing damage to important cellular components caused by reactive oxygen species such as free radicals and peroxides. [2] Thiol groups are reducing agents, existing at a concentration of approximately 5 mM in animal cells. Glutathione reduces disulfide bonds formed within cytoplasmic proteins to cysteines by serving as an electron donor. In the process, glutathione is converted to its oxidized form glutathione disulfide (GSSG), also called L(-)-Glutathione. Glutathione is found almost exclusively in its reduced form, since the enzyme that reverts it from its oxidized form, glutathione reductase, is constitutively active and inducible upon oxidative stress. In fact, the ratio of reduced glutathione to oxidized glutathione within cells is often used as a measure of cellular toxicity. 3] Glutathione is not an essential nutrient (meaning it does not have to be obtained via food), since it can be synthesized in the body from the amino acids L-cysteine, L-glutamic acid, and glycine. Often, agents of contention, the congressional party leaders are, more importantly, agents of compromise. Intent on separating politics from government, the Founding Fathers, after what was truly a Great Compromise, established only a basic framework of the legislative branch in the Constitution. The only congressional leadership positions created in the Constitution are the Speaker of the House in Article I, Section 2, and the President of the Senate (the Vice President of the United States) in Article I, Section 3. In Article I, the Constitution empowers the House and Senate to choose their other Officers. Over the years, those officers have evolved into the party majority and minority leaders, and floor whips. Analyzing the Mirror of Sylvia Essay Sylvia Plath is a name that is famously known in literature as one of the most distinguished female writers of America and the first to receive the prestigious Pulitzer Prize posthumously. Born in Massachusetts on October 27, 1932, she began to have an interest in writing at a very young age. In her whole lifetime, she was able to produce a lot of published works, including an impressive list of poems and stories. In her academic life, Plath has received a lot of prizes and awards including a scholarship to Smith College in 1950 and a Fulbright Scholarship to Cambridge University in 1955. Plath was gifted with an amazing talent in writing, constantly â€Å"was at the top of her class and should logically have been very happy† (Welz). But this was not her case. In fact, Plath was constantly plagued by sufferings and depression. The awards and literary achievements did not always compensate for her feeling of disappointment in herself that is especially emphasized with even just one failure like her suicidal attempt in August of 1953 after she was not accepted to a writing course in Harvard. And yet, people around her were not aware that such depression was forming inside of her because she always projected a happy, contented facade. In a lot of ways, Plath’s personality is always disturbed. She lacked confidence in herself and had a stressful way of viewing life. After he suicide attempt, she was hospitalized â€Å"at Maclean Hospital and was treated with insulin therapy and shock treatments† (Welz). But she continued pursuing her writing which served more than just her passion but as her solace and escape route. In 1956, she met and married her husband who is also a writer, Ted Hughes. Their marriage had been good in the beginning and they produced two children. But in September of 1962, a few months after Plath learned of her husband’s extramarital affairs, the two separated. This is one of the most significant and painful experience in her life. It was evident â€Å"Sylvia had other needs that clashed with her literary ambitions† (Welz). But she did not project this outwardly in her life. As much as she was a very talented and creative writer that was recognized well in the literary society, she also had a lot of personal needs that are often unfulfilled. At some point, Plath also served as an English teacher at Smith College, â€Å"an obvious favorite subject area† (Welz). But she also gave up because she felt dissatisfied and overwhelmed by her work. This led to an increase rate of withdrawal and loneliness, pushing her to write more but limiting her coping and social interaction skills. Most of this feeling was reflected in her poem Mirror that was first written and published in 1961. Mirror was one of the poems that signified a turning point in her style of writing, around the time when life was beginning to become the hardest chapters of her life. The poem is an honest but sad piece of work of that tackles issues of women in the society and in there own selves. It talks about one’s contemplation of all that is hidden and kept, the dream of being accepted, the need to reflect the truth, and the struggle to find one’s importance and purpose in life. â€Å"In Mirror, however, the glass is both subject and speaker at once† (Freedman). It is a poem wherein the object and the author itself are identified as one and they reflect the same qualities and experiences. Plath began the poem by describing the object as something silver and exact. Then, the poem branched out by using a description or characteristic that both the mirror and the author shared through the line â€Å"I have no preconceptions† (Plath line 1). The author’s personality is one that is not prejudiced compared to the others. Just like the mirror, she is truthful to others but remain dishonest to herself. The poem continues with a trait that both the author and the mirror, â€Å"Whatever you see, I swallow immediately† (Plath 2). The author’s personality is to let others dictate how she would feel. There was constant pressure in her part to always do well, having been a model daughter and student her whole life. â€Å"It is the nature and occupation of the mirror self-effacingly to reflect the other† (Freedman). Both the author and the mirror were only passive objects, because they consume whatever is presented to them and reflect it as it is without offering personal beliefs and opinions. It is important to note that the poem was written during the time that Plath had a miscarriage and her marriage with Hughes was facing complications. As a person, Plath was also maturing and becoming more afraid of her life that she feels was completely failing. The second stanza of the poem begins with the line â€Å"Now I am a lake† which reflects a transformation or an evolution that is happening both to the object and to the author (Plath 10). Despite these changes, the purpose they both served remained consistent and the same. The poem reflects that the woman is â€Å"searching my reaches for what she really is† (Plath 11). This indicates the groping for acceptance and importance that everyone is vying for. These are also part of the unfulfilled needs that Plath had her whole life. With everything she had achieved, she still remained discontented because she was not able to embrace her true self and rather rely on other people’s opinions on her. Plath’s experiences, sufferings, frustrations, and dreams in life are definitely reflected in the poem Mirror. As a writer, she was very talented and deserving of her achievements. But as a person, she had a lot of needs that she wasn’t able to voice out and enjoy in her life. It is probably expected that she will take her life again in 1963, and finally succeed. Her unusual, creative, but sometimes overanalyzed perspective in life resulted to a poem as powerful as the Mirror. And the poem’s lines were able to encapsulate the issue of every women seeking for individual identity, fulfillment, and happiness. I Didn't Choose Home Schooling I didn't choose to be taught at home; my parents decided for me. I was four, and my toddler priorities lay elsewhere. Little did I know that I was volunteering for an educational experiment. Every September my parents and I had our annual discussion about continuing home schooling versus sending me to "regular" school. I don't know if I thought school would be a bit boring or if I was afraid of change, but I always chose to stay home. I did go to school for a few classes and for violin lessons, but much of my time there was spent explaining my sporadic attendance to teachers and classmates. I grew accustomed to giving both rote and wry answers to questions like, "Do you watch TV all day?" The rote answer was "No, of course not. I do the same things you do in school." The wry answer was "Yes, from nine to noon," watching their faces form into expressions of disbelief. I didn't tell them I was watching Massachusetts Educational Television on PBS. When discussing home schooling with strangers or skeptical parents, the first question usually concerns "socialization", often posed bluntly as "Do you have any friends?" Sports and orchestra brought me into contact with kids my age, but even then it was a common interest rather than a common age that drew us together. Over the years, I found wonderful friends in Mendelssohn, O. Henry, a German woman on my paper route who was a World War II refugee, Newsweek, a paralyzed basketball coach who couldn't walk but still coached me as if he could, history books, and a range of musical instruments from viola to tinwhistle. People are always relieved to discover that I'm not a hermit. Home schooling gave me the freedom to explore and experiment. We Traded houses with an Irish family and lived in Galway for a month. I was never given actual lessons on "how to write a sentence"; I learned as I wrote history essays. Few schools would have allowed me to research the sinking of the Titanic, but my parents let me read about it, build models of it and learn about watertight bulkheads. (I even managed to finish my math book that year, too.) As I got older, people started to ask if being taught at home was going to hinder me in college.

Many different agency in Colorado are working together to come up with a solution to the drought problem The Colorado River Cooperative Agreement was set up to bring together both the Denver Water, the West Slope and soon to follow the Northern Water Conservancy district to work together to insure the Colorado continues to have an ample amount of water.Now that the State has recognized that drought is an issue they want every city to get on board to find a solution to this problem.Part of the plan that the state has taken to combat the drought problem is to have each city monitor their lakes and rivers and put registrations on how many times a week people can water. This year certain cities had to put  restrictions on watering days as they did not thing they had enough water. Fort Collins, Colorado put a restriction in early spring that allowed only three days a week of watering. Shortly after that the restrictions were lifted, but some cities still have some type of restriction in place. They also left some restriction on town along the foothill so that more water was able to reach the Eastern slopes where much of the states agriculture is grown.The advantage of the state and local governments working together is that it benefits everyone in the state. It also takes the burden off the agriculture industry when they restrict homes from water so much and give more to the farmers. If the state and local governments did not work together we would all but see the decimation of the farms out east as well as some town in the south. Colorado has shown other states that if the many governments can work together as one, they can insure a better quality of life for their citizens.
